Search Engine Optimisation

For your site to rise up the search engine results pages organically (i.e. without advertising) then it will require optimisation. The greater your competition, the greater your need to optimise your site.

Search engine optimisation falls into two broad areas: on-site and link building.

On-site Search Engine Optimisation

This is the process of getting your site search engine friendly: having the right density of key words and phrases, the right titles and headers and making sure your images and alt-tags are working for you.

We will run an analysis of your website, comparing you with the top ten sites on the results page. This will tell you what needs to be done to equal, or preferably beat, your competitors. We will send you this report enabling you to make the changes to the site yourself. Alternatively, let us have access to your website and we'll make the changes for you.

Link Building

In order to gain favour with the search engines your site needs inbound links. Google's own press will say that these need to be good quality links, without expressly defining what good quality means. Essentially, you'll need links to your site from sites with a good page ranking, and preferably with similar content to your own. Mass link building should be avoided as this may adversely affect your position. You'll need lots of links, too: hundreds, thousands maybe - you'll appreciate that this process will be time consuming and is something that ideally should run month to month. If you operate in a competitive market, then remember that your competition will also be doing this - if you nudge them out of the way on a results page, they'll likely make every effort to get their position back.
